Happy New Month

This is wishing you to a Happy New Month.

We also wish all Nigerians peaceful and hitch-free election.

With the successful conclusion of the Presidential, Senate and House of Representative election, it seems the tension has doused to some extent. We pray and hope that the Governorship and House of Assembly election will also go smoothly.

Nigeria Decides 2019

Whatever may be the outcome of the on-going election, most especially with regards to who win or lose, the concern of most Nigerians is to have a government that works, for there to be peace in the nation, for all to go about their normal business, and a system that gives freedom to all citizens without fear or favour; that’s basically what majority of the people wants.

Now, let’s go straight to the subject of this month’s article. This writer has a firm belief that everyone on earth was born to fulfill a particular purpose, and we are in absolute control of our destiny, not an external force. This statement can succinctly be illustrated by the below story which I recently read from somewhere:

“A young chap went to a soothsayer to inquire about the hope of his future.

Right before his eyes, the soothsayer drew two circles. One in white, and the other in black.

He then put a millipede in between the circles, saying “if the millipede crawls into the white circle, your future will be bright and very great, but if it crawls into the black circle, then you are finished and doomed! No future at all!”.

As soon as the insect was dropped in between the circles, it began crawling towards the white circle.

This chap was super-excited.

But suddenly, as it got to the edge of the circle, it turned back and began crawling away from the white circle towards the black one.

The boy watched as the insect progressively moved farther away from his desire to his doom.

Then, just when the insect got to the edge of the black circle, this chap stretched his hands, picked it up and quickly but carefully dropped it in the white circle.

The soothsayer was in shock, never seen anyone intervene in his own matter this way; watching all the while, asked the chap what he did and why he did what he did.

The boy simply replied by saying “Nonsense, I cannot sit and watch an ordinary insect determine my destiny, while I can still do something about it and change its course.  My destiny is in my hands”.

The young chap got up and left immediately.”

As funny as the above story may seem, the lessons are obvious – Get up, pick the millipede and drop it where you want, life should not be left to chance, you’re absolutely in control of your destiny; the power to design and pilot your life is in your hands. You either sit down there, complain and feel someone owes you something, or you get up and determine the flow of your life. It’s up to you and I. God has given to each and every one of us (including the so-called physically challenged people) all we need to succeed in life, we only need to discover it. I firmly believe that there’s at least one thing each of us is best at, that no other person in the world can compete with, we only need to discover this if we haven’t.

Your destiny is in your own hands

Nothing moves, until you move (Newton’s First Law of Motion). As a man thinks in his heart, so is he; your belief system shapes your life. If you believe you can, you’re right, and if you believe you can’t, you’re also right. You’re absolutely responsible for the events of your life. This is an amazing discovery in human history that everything responds to our belief system.

Indeed, life is governed, not by miracles, but by principles. Therefore, don’t just rely on miracles to succeed, go for principles that align with a positive belief system.
