We sincerely congratulate Nigeria and Nigerians for the successful transition in government. It is a ground breaking event because it has been predicted from many quarters that by 2015, the entity called Nigeria will be disintegrated. This was even becoming a reality with the successful and insurmountable attacks by ‘Boko Haram’, the highly tensed political system, as well as the unfavourable economic conditions.
It is evident by the occurrences of the past few days that God rules in the affairs of men, and this country (Nigeria) is after God’s heart. The ceaseless prayers of the people of God have not been in vain.
However, we need to curtail our celebration for the new government, because this is the most challenging periods in the history of our nation. The fast depleting foreign reserves, the largely depleted excess crude oil account, the falling oil prices, the high exchange rate, high interest rate, arrears of salaries at Federal and State levels, large volume of debt servicing, teeming youth unemployment, corruption, insecurity, to mention just a few are some of the issues the newly inaugurated government must begin to tackle immediately. We all have very high expectations, but we must bear in mind that the change cannot be spontaneous; it will be a process which will require the support of everyone.
The process of change can be painful, but at the end worthwhile. The reason being that we have learnt and are used to a system of corruption, deceit, extravagant lifestyle, illicit amass of wealth, injustice and poor value system. However, the change we are clamouring for entails unlearning these bad values, to adopting a new value system of honesty, integrity, accountability, harmonious living, patriotism, and being truthful at all times. The process of change must begin with the change in our value system. It is evident that this is beyond the Buhari-Osinbajo administration, it begins with you and I. We need to start doing things right even when the traffic warden, LASTMA, the police are not within our sight.
Change is truly here, and I’m beginning to believe the prophecy of some people that ‘Nigeria will be among the world powers and will be one of the most desirable nations to live in by the year 2025’.
Today, almost every Nigerian wants to go abroad, but in less than 10 years from now, the whole world would want to come to Nigeria. Can you imagine what the impact will be on the Nigerian economy; Nigerian passport and visa will become hot cake. It is possible, and it will happen.
The people who will make the most of the period are people who starts planning and taking position today. Invest today to avoid regrets tomorrow. The best investment that had stood the test of time is real estate.
